At McKnight Law Firm, the work extends beyond the courtroom. Jody McKnight grew up on Charleston’s waterways and has spent his life connected to this community. That connection comes with responsibility. The firm supports organizations focused on making streets safer for pedestrians and cyclists, and Jody volunteers his time on the water helping protect swimmers in local endurance events. Whether through sponsorships or hands-on involvement, these partnerships reflect a straightforward belief: when the community does better, everyone does better.
Our Community Partners
Charleston Moves
Charleston Moves is a nonprofit advocating for pedestrian safety and better infrastructure for cyclists throughout the Charleston region. The organization works to improve street design, expand bike lanes, and create safer crossings for everyone who walks or rides in the Lowcountry. McKnight Law Firm supports Charleston Moves because safer streets mean fewer serious injuries, and that benefits the entire community.
Lowcountry Splash
The Lowcountry Splash is an annual open-water swimming event in Charleston Harbor. Jody McKnight volunteers as kayak safety crew, paddling alongside swimmers during 2.4-mile and longer courses to help ensure participant safety. Supporting endurance athletes in the same waters where he learned to swim and boat is a natural fit.
Swim Around Charleston
Swim Around Charleston challenges participants with a 12-mile course through Charleston Harbor. Jody serves as kayak support for this grueling event, providing safety assistance to swimmers navigating tides, currents, and boat traffic. The event raises awareness for local charities while bringing endurance athletes from across the country to the Lowcountry.
Navy SEALs Foundation Charleston Swim
The Navy SEALs Foundation Charleston Swim raises funds to support Navy SEAL families and veterans. Jody volunteers as kayak safety crew for this event, helping protect swimmers while supporting a cause that honors those who serve. The event draws participants committed to both physical challenge and meaningful contribution.
